Tabanan is located in the west of Denpasar city in central Bali and is well known for the beautiful nature and, in particular, the tea plantations that are UNESCO-recognized as well as the production of agricultural products and its handicraft industry. Due to the tourism is developing in Tabanan, you will encounter with the multiple tourist attractions that will give you a pleasant time.

Early in the morning, you can start exploring the beautiful green lands of Tabanan with Jatiluwih green land. Located at the end of Mount Batukaru, this 600-hectare of rice fields was a candidate for UNESCO back then. Here, you can see that the traditional water management system, called ‘Subak’, dates back to the 9th century. A visit will take one or two hours to walk through the beautiful rice terrace and enjoy the spectacular views. The ricefield is 700 meters above sea level, so you can enjoy the fresh breeze walking through the ricefield.

While you are in Tabanan, you should visit one of the many plantations, Hidden Garden coffee is one of them. This is a family-run plantation, offering a variety of tour packages. You can learn about how to grow and produce organically, and after the tour, you can taste 12 different cups of tea or coffee. This also includes the famous Luwak coffee – an experience that you will not regret.

There are multiple temples you can visit. The rich history behind these temples is fascinating, and the temples themselves are magnificent. A must-visit temple is the Ulun Danu Bratan temple. This seaside temple on the west bank of Lake Bratan is unique and photogenic. Ulun Danu Bratan was built in 1633, and worshippers of the Mengwi Kingdom gave their offerings to the lake and the river goddess. It is good to bring something warm because the temple’s location is 1200 meters above sea level.
The Malen temple is also worth visiting when you are in Tabanan. The temple is a sculpture of Siwa Pura Malen in Pupuan Tabanan Bali. The place is stunning and has a charm of beauty you want to visit, making it trendy among tourists. There is no entrance fee for this temple, but a small donation is really appreciated.
To immerse yourself in Tabanan’s history, you should go to Subak Museum. The place exhibits a comprehensive collection of farming tools that were traditionally used and traditional Balinese irrigation systems that are called Subak. The museum is divided into two different segments, the closed complex where the collection of farming tools is exhibited, functioning as an information centre. And the second segment is the open segment with rice fields with the watering system Subak.

In the afternoon, when the sun is brighter and you want some cooling, you should definitely visit a waterfall. I would recommend the Blahmantung waterfall. The Blahmantung waterfall is hidden and clocked within some of the coffee plantations. Visitors can enjoy the 50-metre-high waterfall and also enjoy the scent of coffee. The waterfall also has beautiful green accents because of the rocks. The advantage of this waterfall is that it is not as famous as other waterfalls in Bali, meaning that you can have a moment for yourself.

When you have seen the waterfall, you can also go to the Angseri hot spring. This is a small sulphuric hot spring that includes a little waterfall. The local people believe that it helps them by soothing muscle aching and joint pain. Definitely something you should have seen and a bonus when you have little pain.
Also, a must visit is the Bali butterfly park. The park features many different species of butterflies. The park is 3000 square meters where not only the butterflies but also other insects are available.

For those who prefer a real action, you can book an ATV tour. You can sign up with different tour operators for a unique ATV experience. You have tours for everyone from off-road to the beach and rice fields.
