There is something quietly reassuring about knowing exactly what goes into the food we choose every day. For Beras Organik Jatiluwih, that reassurance has now been measured, tested and formally certified.

Beras Organik Jatiluwih’s Low GI Rice has officially received Low Glycemic Index certification following an in-vivo study conducted by MBRIO Food Laboratory using the ISO 26642:2010 method, an internationally recognised standard for determining glycemic index. The result is a glycemic index of 54.96, placing the rice within the officially recognised low-GI category, defined as a GI of 55 or below.

For a brand built around the belief that better food begins with better choices, the certification represents an important distinction. It is no longer simply a description of the rice. It is a measured result, independently tested and verified.

Measured, Not Merely Claimed

The certification followed approximately two months of in-vivo testing by MBRIO Food Laboratory, using the internationally recognised ISO 26642:2010 method for glycemic index determination. More than fifteen participants were monitored against a glucose reference standard and after consuming cooked Beras Organik Jatiluwih Low GI Rice, with blood glucose measured over a two-hour period.

The result was a glycemic index of 54.96, placing the rice within the officially recognised low-GI category of 55 or below. The testing showed a more gradual glucose response compared with the glucose reference, providing scientific validation for its low-GI classification.

The Science Behind a Slower Response

The difference lies partly in the structure of rice starch. Rice contains two primary forms of starch, amylose and amylopectin. Higher levels of amylose are associated with slower starch digestion and a lower glycemic response, allowing glucose to be released more gradually.

For consumers, the significance is simple: Beras Organik Jatiluwih Low GI Rice remains an everyday staple, prepared and enjoyed like ordinary rice, while offering a more considered choice for those mindful of their blood sugar.

Grown in Tabanan, Rooted in Bali

The Low GI variety is cultivated exclusively in Tabanan, Bali, within the organic farming system that defines Beras Organik Jatiluwih. Seeds are cultivated independently, fertilisers are produced through natural processes, and the land is carefully rehabilitated to meet organic standards before cultivation. Farmers also produce their own compost as part of a naturally managed agricultural ecosystem.

The rice remains closely connected to Bali’s Subak system, where farming is shaped by longstanding cultural practices and a balance between people and nature. Behind the certification, therefore, is not only a number, but a longer story of land, farming and care.

Effortless Diet

For anyone trying to manage their blood sugar or maintain a more balanced diet, healthy eating does not have to mean giving up the foods they love. Sometimes, it simply means making a better choice.

Rice is a perfect example. It is familiar, comforting and deeply woven into the Indonesian table. Giving it up entirely can make healthy eating feel more like deprivation than a lifestyle. Beras Organik Jatiluwih Low GI Rice offers another way. With a certified glycemic index of 54.96, it provides a lower-GI option for those looking to make more mindful choices around blood sugar, without having to give up rice as part of their everyday meals.

This is where Effortless Diet comes in. Rather than constantly counting, restricting or redesigning every meal, a more conscious choice can begin with something as simple as the rice on the plate. One small decision, made at the point of purchase, can become part of a healthier everyday routine.

Because eating well should not always feel like work. Sometimes, it is simply about choosing better.

Beras Organik Jatiluwih Low GI Rice is now available with updated packaging reflecting its certified glycemic index status.
