Bali tourism is more than just peace, serenity, and tranquillity; we also offer adrenaline-fuelled tourism for thrill seekers. For those of you who are looking for an exhilarating experience, especially on the water, you should try wakeboarding. Wakeboarding is a water sport that combines surfing and water skiing where you are towed behind a speedboat at moderate speed.

If you are curious about wakeboarding options on the Island of the Gods, below we have compiled everything you need to know about the wakeboarding scene in Bali, exploring popular spots and essential details for an unforgettable experience.

Exploring Wakeboarding in Bali

With Bali’s blessed natural beauty, it shouldn’t be hard for you to get your hands on water activities. While beaches, waterfalls, and snorkelling are popular choices, wakeboarding in Bali takes the aquatic adventure to a whole new level.

These two prominent locations cater to wakeboarding enthusiasts, offering a mix of excitement and scenic beauty.

Bali Wake Park

Bali Wake Park, located in Pedungan, South Denpasar is one of the best water parks in Bali with five hectares of artificial lake to satisfy the craving of wakeboarding enthusiasts.

Unlike traditional wakeboarding facilities that rely on super boats to pull riders, Bali Wake Park stands out with its innovative cable park system. This cutting-edge technology allows wakeboarders to navigate the expansive lake in an environmentally friendly and economical manner, eliminating the need for a boat.

The cable system is made up of a network of cables stretched over the lake. Wakeboarders are pulled along these lines, offering a continuous and exhilarating ride.

Whether you’re a beginner looking to stand on the board for the first time or an advanced rider aiming to improve your techniques, Bali Wake Park has a team of certified instructors to cater to all skill levels of wakeboarders.

Bali Wake Park is open from 10:00 to 18:00 every day. Apart from the cable park which provides wakeboarding rides, Bali Wake Park also offers a number of other water attractions at reasonable prices.

Tanjung Benoa Water Sports

For those looking for a coastal wakeboarding experience, Tanjung Benoa Water Sports is the ideal choice.

Located on the eastern coast of Bali, wakeboarding enthusiasts can feel the thrill of being towed by a speedboat, creating a thrilling experience against the backdrop of the Indian Ocean. Tanjung Benoa Water Sports also offers various marine adventures to complement your wakeboarding experience, making it a comprehensive water sports destination for adventure seekers.

In total, there are 12 water sports that you can enjoy: banana boat ride, rolling doughnut ride, jet ski rental, parasailing adventure, fly-boarding, and many more.

While it’s tempting to try all the water sports on the same day, it’s advisable to always check the time, the waters, and the sky. Yes, the park is open from 08.00 to 21.00, but the water rides are best enjoyed between 09.00 and 14:00. Early morning offers calmer water, less crowds and heat, while later at midday can be really hot and full of guests, so be ready to queue.

Things to Know Before Wakeboarding

Before embarking on a wakeboarding adventure in Bali, there are some essential considerations for a seamless experience.

  • Skill level matters: Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced wakeboarder, Bali caters to all skill levels. Both Bali Wake Park and Tanjung Benoa Water Sports provide equipment and guidance suitable for every proficiency level.
  • Safety first: Prioritise safety by wearing appropriate gear, including a life jacket and helmet. Pay attention to the directions given by the instructors to guarantee a safe and enjoyable ride.
  • Weather conditions: Bali’s tropical climate can influence water conditions. It’s advisable to check the weather forecast before planning a wakeboarding session to ensure optimal conditions for this thrilling activity.
  • Booking in Advance: To avoid disappointment, especially during peak tourist seasons, consider booking your wakeboarding session in advance. This ensures availability and allows for better planning of your Bali itinerary.

For long-stay travellers considering Bali as their second home, the island’s vibrant water sports scene, including wakeboarding, adds an extra layer of excitement to the experience. With Bali’s welcoming atmosphere and diverse offerings, it’s no wonder that many foreigners are exploring the possibility of an extended stay on this enchanting island.
