Bali is well-known for its breathtaking beaches, picturesque scenery, and vibrant culture. The beach resorts and nightlife draw a lot of tourists to Bali, but the island has a lot more to offer. Bali is a place with a variety of cultural attractions and interesting things to do. Although there are a lot of activities that attract thousands of tourists daily, there are also some cultural activities that are less popular, but most certainly not less fun. In this article, we’ll look at five uncommon cultural activities in Bali, that will make you fall in love with its culture even more.

Trunyan Village

On the eastern side of Lake Batur in Bali, there is a special and fascinating place called Trunyan Village. The village is home to a long-extinct Balinese community that follows the unusual Mepasah funeral custom. The village’s historic cemetery, which is encircled by Taru Menyan trees, is its main draw. The traditional market, which features locally produced goods and handmade crafts, is another draw. Anyone interested in learning more about Bali’s rich history and traditions should visit Trunyan Village. It is a must-see location.

Camping in Klungkung

A distinctive way to explore Bali’s rural life and natural beauty is to go camping there. The region is well-known for its stunning beaches, challenging mountains, and verdant forests, making it a well-liked vacation spot for outdoor enthusiasts. There are several campgrounds around that provide a variety of amenities, from straightforward tent sites to opulent glamping alternatives. Visitors can engage in outdoor pursuits like hiking, fishing, and swimming as well as get a taste of the native way of life by mingling with the kind and inviting Balinese people. Camping in the Klungkung region is a terrific way to get away from the crowds and explore Bali’s undiscovered attractions.

Abandoned Bedugul Taman Hotel

A unique location in Bali is the Bedugul Taman Hotel, which was built in the 1990s as a magnificent hotel but was never finished due to financial difficulties. The hotel has a beautiful view of the surroundings and is situated in a picturesque place close to Lake Bratan and the Bedugul Botanical Gardens. Due to its creepy and mysterious ambience, the hotel has become a favourite destination for urban explorers and thrill seekers. For photographers and tourists seeking a distinctive Bali experience, the hotel’s unfinished concrete construction, overgrown foliage, and graffiti-covered walls provide a hauntingly stunning scene, a must-see for everyone curious about Bali’s cultural history.

Weaving workshop

Visitors to the island can participate in an immersive experience at the weaving session at Make a Scene Bali. The workshop is maintained by local weavers who are committed to maintaining traditional weaving methods, and it is situated in the creative centre of Ubud. Visitors can learn about Balinese weaving’s history and culture and even try their hand at making their own textiles using time-honoured methods and supplies. The workshop offers a laid-back and welcoming environment, and experienced weavers are on hand to lead and help participants. Visitors who take part in the weaving session can develop new abilities, help out local craftspeople, and have a greater understanding of Balinese art and culture.

Stay with locals at Karangasem Regency

A wonderful approach to seeing Bali’s rich culture and traditional way of life is to stay with natives in the Karangasem Regency. Towering volcanoes, luxuriant rice fields, and breathtaking beaches are just a few of the region’s breathtaking natural features. Visitors may fully experience the local culture and learn about Balinese traditions and customs by residing with natives. The homestays in Karangasem Regency provide cosy lodging, wholesome meals, and an opportunity to interact with hospitable locals. Visitors are welcome to take part in local pursuits like making offerings, studying traditional dances, and practising traditional crafts. In Karangasem Regency, staying with locals is a distinctive and genuine way to explore Bali’s beauty and culture.

Overall, Bali is a place that offers many cultural activities, from camping to staying with locals and weaving to visiting ghosted hotels. Exploring Bali’s culture will give you a deep insight into the island’s rich history and unique traditions. Whether you are interested in religion, dance, or history, there is something for everyone in Bali. So make sure you include one of these activities in your trip to Bali!
