Holidaymakers have more reasons to celebrate as Bali unveils two new international flight routes, cementing its reputation as a premier global tourist destination.
The Indonesian island now boasts a new Jeddah-Denpasar service, connecting Bali with Saudi Arabia three times a week via Singapore. The route, operated by Saudia, was launched with fanfare during a press conference attended by Bali Governor Wayan Koster, Saudi Arabia’s Ambassador to Indonesia, HE Faisal Bin Abdullah Al-Amudi, and Saudia’s Regional Country Manager, Faisal Alallah.
This new addition marks Saudia’s third destination in Indonesia, alongside Jakarta and Medan. Speaking at the event, Alallah remarked, “The route to Bali aligns with our strategic vision to enhance competitive advantage and expand our global network.” The service will utilise Boeing B787-900 Dreamliners, offering a capacity of 274 economy and 24 business class seats.
Governor Koster welcomed the development, emphasising Bali’s commitment to quality tourism. He expressed hopes that visitors from Saudi Arabia and beyond would respect the island’s cultural heritage and adhere to local regulations. “We’re implementing policies to ensure Bali’s tourism thrives sustainably, rooted in culture and quality,” he said.
Governor Koster also revealed aspirations to welcome 6.5 million international arrivals in 2025. He noted that Bali had hosted 14,000 Saudi tourists in 2024, and expressed gratitude to Saudi Arabia for its partnership in launching this route.
Meanwhile, Thai Lion Air has introduced a direct service connecting Bali to Don Mueang International Airport in Bangkok. Officially launched on 30th March, the daily service will offer 215 economy seats starting from 10th April.
Danang Mandala Prihantoro, Thai Lion Air’s Head of Strategic Corporate Communications, described the new route as “a strategic step to support tourism growth and bolster bilateral ties between Indonesia and Thailand.”
Bali Governor Wayan Koster has called for cultural respect from incoming travellers, reiterating a Regional Regulation introduced in 2023 aimed at managing tourism responsibly. “With these steps,” he noted, “Bali tourism will continue to develop positively, safeguarding our cultural values while welcoming the world.”
These new connections underscore Bali’s growing importance as a global travel hub, promising even more opportunities for tourism and cultural exchange.
