“Chinese food tries to engage the mind, not just the palate; to provoke the intellect.”

This island hosts a large number of Chinese restaurants serving authentic Chinese food. From varieties of noodles, rice and mouth-watering appetizers, Bali offers enough Chinese food to satiate any food pallet. Some of the Chinese restaurants in Bali are very aesthetically built, reminding you of Shanghai cities or reconstructed ancient Chinese temples. From the legendary Pecking Duck and lobster dishes to mouth-watering prawn dumplings and phenomenal crab, let me take you on a quick journey to Hong Kong while feasting on Chinese cuisines (in alphabetical order)!

Bai Yun

Experience the warmth of convivial dining at The Apurva Kempinski Bali, where every meal is a celebration of togetherness. At our restaurant, Bai Yun, we’re proud to offer an authentic hot pot experience, complete with a rich broth and an assortment of fresh ingredients. Our chefs take great care in selecting only the finest produce, ensuring that every bite brings joy and happiness. While our exquisite dim sum selection, crafted with precision and care, promises to deliver a truly unforgettable dining experience.

Gather around the table with friends and family, and savor the joy of sharing a delicious meal together. Whether you’re a seasoned foodie or just looking for a unique culinary adventure, Bai Yun at The Apurva Kempinski Bali invites you to experience the joy of hot pot and dim sum.

Golden Lotus

After being opened only for All You Can Eat Sunday Dim Sum for the past two and half years, Golden Lotus is finally set to open for dinner 6 days a week! This award-winning Chinese Restaurant is set to welcome diners from Monday to Saturday from 6PM to 10PM for an a la carte menu, while Sunday they will still be open for the All You Can Sunday Dim Sum from 10AM to 2.30PM.

Golden Monkey Chinese Restaurant

Theme - Chinese Golden Monkey - bali news

Serving a large selection of classic Cantonese favourites, this restaurant in downtown Ubud takes pride in creating some of the island’s tastiest Chinese food using only the freshest quality ingredients. Highlighting Peking Duck as the signature dish, the ducks are carefully and meticulously arranged to give you an incredibly delightful taste and crunch. The smell teases your taste buds when your fingers touch its firm skin to set up the hotcakes before you close your eyes and nibble into that very fulfilling, tremendously anticipated the first chomp. Relish its taste, its succulent delicacy, the flavours and burst of freshness from the fixings.

Happy Chappy

happy chappy - bali news

This 2-time award winning for the Best Chinese Restaurant in Bali is a pleasant family-style Chinese eatery enlivened by a mix of conventional Chinese tradition with a hip, modern influence. Happy Chappy’s offbeat interpretation of upscale Chinese dining is tempered by one of the finest, best-in-class kitchens serving the most delightful customary Cantonese-style Chinese cuisines in Bali. Here, you’ll discover genuine great Chinese dishes. Let’s think of fancier portrayals – luscious, creamy, to kick the bucket for, excellent – and yes, Happy Chappy is the majority of the above, and that’s only the tip of the iceberg. However, nothing clarifies it better than genuine great Chinese nourishment.

Dinner at Happy Chappy is a whole ordeal that begins the moment you stroll through its delightful Chinese entryways and voila! You’re in 1930’s Hong Kong. From its wooden completion, red lights, Chinese adornments and sketches to the huge statue of the glad Buddha in the hall; everything cooperates to give you that immaculate eating background. Rejoice for those living in Seminyak or Petitenget as they will open a new restaurant at Jalan Taman Ganesha.

Mama San Bali

This restaurant highlights a two-storied three-in-one kitchen bar & lounge serving lunches, dinners and evening tapas. With its moody elegance and superb food, this restaurant is Asian street food in a remarkable setting. Mamasan dishes reflect the increasingly high-quality products available in Bali and offer a unique insight into the complexity of flavours associated with regional cooking of Sichuan, Shan and Hmong provinces. However, Mamasan is actually an environment where people can feel comfortable. It is for anyone who likes to lounge in style and eat quality South East Asian food without it being too expensive.

Naga Eight

The restaurant occupies 500sqm of land within four hectares of tropical gardens, located in the prime area of Sanur, a seaside town with its old-world charm, amazing sunrise and pristine beaches. A unification of Balinese and Chinese beliefs, the meaningful name Naga Eight was inspired by Sanur local residentsʼ beliefs that the location of Naga Eight and the surrounding area is governed by a spiritual Mythical Dragon while the number eight has long been regarded as the luckiest number in Chinese culture, representing prosperity and wealth.

To create a sleek and modern feel, the reception area is accentuated with dragon scale tiles and mirrored walls, as well as a high industrial ceiling with lattice finishing and an open central bar. With indoor seating for ninety people, Naga Eight is the perfect setting to enjoy Cantonese spreads with friends, and family or reserve your own private area of the restaurant.

Table8

Presenting an oriental taste of Cantonese and Szechuan, the interior of this restaurant will remind you of a royal Chinese palace by highlighting decorations and artworks that reflect the glory of China’s Dynasty era. Indulge yourself with their signature dish, Cantonese dim sum. Immaculate in all viewpoints, they’re delicate, crunchy, delicious and fragrant. Some other Table8’s refined Cantonese flavours are steamed crystal shrimp dumplings, golden sauce bun or siu mai.

Warung Laota Jimbaran

This is one of the local favourites of all time. Famed among foodies for their porridge, this eatery never appears to run low on visitors. The décor is inspired by a simple Chinese restaurant with wood tables and chairs next to a live-open kitchen. Although they specialised in delivering fresh seafood, the hot seller would be Rainbow Porridge – a mixture of minced beef, crab, grouper, squid fillet, shrimp, Phitan eggs and lettuce. A bowl of porridge can be shared with up to four people. My recommendation is to pair it with the famous Chinese snack, ‘Cakwe’ – delicate, delicate, crunchy, delicious and fragrant. The taste will blend perfectly!

You might also want to consider the Peking Ducks. The ducks are carefully and meticulously arranged to give you that incredibly delightful taste and crunch. The dinner starts when the duck is revealed; when the smell teases your taste buds when your fingers touch its firm skin to set up the hotcakes before you close your eyes and nibble into that very fulfilling, tremendously anticipated first chomp. Relish its taste, its succulent delicacy, the flavours and the burst of freshness from the fixings.
