Bringing together leaders from business, government, academia, entrepreneurship, and local communities, The Apurva Kempinski Bali concluded the fourth edition of its annual Path to Sustainable Growth summit under the theme “Regenerate for the Future.” Held at the Candi Ballroom, The Apurva Kempinski Bali, the full-day summit welcomed over 250 attendees for a day of thought-provoking discussions, collaborative dialogue, and knowledge sharing focused on advancing regenerative practices across industries and shaping a more sustainable future.
The summit commenced with a keynote address by Nurmalia, Assistant Vice President of Retail Transaction Group, Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI), who underscored the importance of collaboration between financial institutions, businesses, and communities in accelerating Indonesia’s sustainable development agenda. She emphasised that regenerative growth requires collective commitment, innovation, and long-term investment to create lasting impact for future generations. Structured around four interconnected themes, the summit explored how regeneration begins with preserving culture, protecting nature, embracing innovation, and investing in people.
Opening the discussions, Legacy examined how Indonesia’s cultural heritage can remain relevant for future generations. Wulan Tilaar – President Director, Martha Tilaar Spa & Puspita Marta International Beauty School, reflected on preserving the nation’s wellness traditions through innovation, while Mita Alwi – Head of The Board of Trustees, Yayasan Warisan Budaya Banda, shared the importance of safeguarding Banda’s cultural legacy. Anak Agung Gde Rai, Founder of Agung Rai Museum of Art, demonstrated how museums and art continue to strengthen Balinese identity, and Heinz von Holzen, Chef-Founder of Bumbu Bali Restaurant & Cooking School, showcased how culinary heritage preserves local traditions while creating sustainable economic opportunities.
The conversation then turned to Preserving the Land and Nature, where speakers explored environmental stewardship and ecosystem restoration. Tara Susanto-Joseph – Co-Founder & CEO, Bumiterra – presented regenerative agriculture as a pathway toward healthier landscapes, while Jeremy Cooper – Co-Founder, Beemahoney – demonstrated the critical role of biodiversity through sustainable beekeeping. Chandra Panjiwibowo – Senior Director Asia Pacific, Rainforest Alliance, examined responsible land management and resilient supply chains, while Galih Batara Muda – Founder & CEO, Indonesia Coconut Hub, highlighted circular approaches that strengthen Indonesia’s coconut industry while supporting local communities.
Centred on the theme “Regenerate for the Future,” the summit examined the role of innovation and circular business models in advancing industrial transformation. Maitri Fischer – Chief Executive Officer, Eco-Mantra examined strategies that integrate business growth with environmental responsibility, while Jelle Therry – Founder, Urban Nature demonstrated regenerative design approaches that actively restore ecosystems rather than simply reducing environmental impact.
Valerine Chandrakesuma – CEO and Founder, WeDoo showcased technology-driven waste management solutions, Nabila Syavira (Syakieb) – Corporate & Brand Communications, PT Suparma Tbk reflected on PT Suparma’s sustainable manufacturing journey, and Tharesa Rahma Primula – Key Account Manager, Noovoleum presented innovative methods of converting used cooking oil into renewable resources.
Concluding the discussions, Preserving People placed human wellbeing at the centre of sustainable development. Desak Intan, Director of Hygiene, Safety, and Sustainability at The Apurva Kempinski Bali, shared the resort’s people-centric philosophy through its Mind, Body, and Soul credo, highlighting the importance of fostering holistic well-being, personal growth, and a supportive workplace culture as the foundation for delivering exceptional hospitality. Merta Ada – Founder, Bali Usada and Nago Tejena – General Manager, Bali Usada explored the preservation of traditional Balinese healing practices through meditation, while Natasha Clairine Mintarga -Founder, Rumah Atsiri Indonesia celebrated Indonesia’s botanical heritage through wellness innovation, demonstrating how she has built an ecosystem around this foundation by integrating wellness, education, community empowerment, and sustainable business practices. Agatha Anggiya Murni, Nutrition & Human Performance Strategist at 3C, concluded the session by highlighting the relationship among nutrition, human performance, and sustainable lifestyles.
Reflecting its commitment to responsible event management, Path to Sustainable Growth 2026 also measured and addressed its environmental footprint. The event generated a total carbon emission of 9,982.055 kgCO2e, equivalent to the carbon sequestration capacity of approximately 1,467.95 mangrove trees. To achieve a net-positive environmental outcome, Bali Ocean Carbon (BOC) committed to donating 1,500 mangrove trees, fully offsetting the event’s emissions while contributing to the restoration of Indonesia’s coastal ecosystems. The initiative demonstrates how meaningful partnerships can transform sustainability commitments into measurable environmental action.
Looking beyond the summit itself, The Apurva Kempinski Bali introduced Seeds of Change, an eight-week mentorship and incubation programme designed to empower Indonesia’s next generation of sustainability innovators. The initiative invites university students and early-stage startups to develop impactful solutions across regenerative tourism, environmental innovation, and social entrepreneurship.
During the event, the resort officially announced the eight shortlisted participants, selected for presenting the most promising ideas with the potential to generate lasting environmental and social impact. The finalists are Yogi Sidik Prasojo (Estuaria Alam Lestari), Komang Tia Trisnapratiwi (Decoco Luminer), Juliana Sianturi (Saree Ulos), Aula Larasati (Umah Pupa), Aditya Anugrah (Weavora), Ayu Adriani (Bali Ocean Carbon), Ni Wayan Orissa Hrdayani Mas Manuaba (Enably), and Ni Komang Sri Andayani (Terra Loka Nusantara).
Over the coming eight weeks, participants will receive mentorship from industry leaders to refine their business models, strengthen their sustainability strategies, and enhance the long-term impact of their initiatives. The programme will culminate in a final pitch, where the two strongest projects will receive implementation grants of IDR 50 million and IDR 20 million, respectively, supporting the transition from innovative ideas to real-world solutions.
