BBTF as a venue for business-to-business meetings for national and international tourism industry takes an important role in delivering information and establishing cooperation with overseas travel operators (buyers) who will send tourists to Indonesia. This year BBTF introduced exhibitors (sellers) with the concept of sustainable tourism and the development of wellness and health tourism. In addition, displaying new destination products is a strategic step aimed at encouraging the movement of domestic and global tourists to get to know new destinations, quality facilities, and services.
This year’s BBTF features 13 Indonesian provincial destinations, namely; DKI Jakarta, Aceh, Bangka Belitung, Special Region of Yogyakarta, Central Java, East Java, East Kalimantan, East Nusa Tenggara, West Nusa Tenggara, South Sulawesi, North Sulawesi, North Sumatra and Bali of course – including 5 priority destinations namely; Lake Toba, Mandalika, Borobudur, Likupang, and Labuan Bajo. The presentation of this destination also provides space for performing arts, culture, and the uniqueness of each region.
“Bali will continue to diversify its economic growth through tourism which depends not only on the number of arrivals, but also on quality tourism – therefore the need for acceleration of new products such as wellness tourism, health tourism, cruise tourism, and MICE to be better known by buyers. There will be a discussion meeting on the importance of the contribution of travel agents in the tourism industry businesses and it’s role in encouraging collaboration with other stakeholders,” added I Putu Winastra as chairman of the BBTF 2022 committee and chairman of ASITA, Bali Chapter.
The theme of BBTF 2022 “Balancing in Harmony” is a communication and bridge effort to revive the post-pandemic tourism economy and the chain of promotion of sustainable tourism destinations and products. This year BBTF attracted 181 sellers from 30 regencies/cities from 13 provinces including Bali in particular and Indonesia in general, and 273 buyers from 30 countries participated in enlivening the tourism industry business.
This year’s BBTF welcomes new travel agents from Africa, in line with countries with major contributions from Europe, the Middle East, ASEAN countries, India, Australia, and Asia. Nigeria for the first time participated and listed as buyers with the largest number after Indonesia, Australia, India, Philippines, France, and Netherlands, followed by United Kingdom and United Arab Emirates. In the implementation of this year’s BBTF, the target of transactions is estimated to reach up to IDR 5.220 trillion – hence 22 percent increase compared to the 2021 target of IDR 4,080 trillion. “We are very enthusiastic to welcome leading sellers, buyers, and media at the 8th BBTF 2022.” stated by I Putu Winastra.
Noting the achievements of BBTF transactions in previous years, this event is believed to be Indonesia’s Leading International Travel Fair to be proud of, and become a promotional tool for Indonesian provincial destinations, as well as sustainable travel products.
