In celebration of Global Accessibility Awareness Day 2026, Ascott Indonesia Area Bali introduced a collaborative initiative titled “Speak Without Sound”, held at Harris Hotel Kuta Tuban on 21 May 2026. More than just an annual program, this initiative serves as a meaningful platform to foster deeper human connections beyond words.

Ten Ascott properties in Bali, including Citadines Berawa Beach Bali Resort, Harris Hotel Kuta Tuban, Harris Hotel & Residences Riverview Kuta, Harris Hotel & Residences Sunset Road, Harris Hotel & Conventions Denpasar, Harris Hotel Seminyak, Fox Hotel Jimbaran Beach, Yello Hotel Kuta Beachwalk, Maison Aurelia Sanur, and Pop! Hotel Kuta Beach, came together in a unified movement alongside PUSBISINDO Bali and Matahati Kita Poleng Foundation Bali.

As part of Ascott International’s commitment through the Ascott CARES pillar, “Speak Without Sound” goes beyond being a campaign. Ascott Indonesia Area Bali invites hospitality professionals, particularly hoteliers, to embrace inclusivity as an integral part of how we serve, interact, and understand one another with sincerity.

Through a hands-on experience, participants were immersed in the perspective of the Deaf community by learning Bahasa Isyarat Indonesia (BISINDO). The workshop created a warm and interactive learning environment, encouraging genuine empathy. For hotel staff, this experience was not merely about learning a new language, but about discovering more inclusive ways to communicate with guests with disabilities.

“Speak Without Sound” was designed as a shared experience, bringing together hotel teams, Bali’s creative community, and members of the Deaf community. With a simple yet meaningful approach, the initiative reminds us that not all voices are heard, but everyone deserves to be understood.

This initiative was supported by cross-community collaborations, including PUSBISINDO Bali as the BISINDO education facilitator, Matahati Kita Poleng Foundation Bali as a cultural and community partner, and the presence of Okubo Jasmine as a creative collaborator and awareness voice. Together, they created a space that is not only educational, but also socially and culturally relevant.

“Ascott is committed to providing equal opportunities for all talents to be part of the Ascott family, especially in the Bali region and Eastern Indonesia,” said Patrick Legrand, General Manager of Ascott Area Bali and Eastern Indonesia, during the opening of the “Speak Without Sound” event.

Through this initiative, Ascott Indonesia Area Bali reaffirms its commitment to becoming part of a more open and inclusive hospitality industry. In line with its journey toward Global Sustainable Tourism Council certification, accessibility and inclusivity remain key focus areas. Ascott believes that opportunities within the hospitality industry should be accessible to everyone, including persons with disabilities.
