Ubud is, in many ways, Bali’s cultural heart. It is one of those places where a vacation of a few days can easily turn into a stay of weeks, months or even years. This is a place where traditional Balinese culture instils every waking moment, where colourful offerings embellish the streets and where the mesmerising strains of gamelan are an ever-present soundtrack to everyday life. It is also somewhere that is inexorably on-trend – a showcase of ecological design, mindfulness, culinary ingenuity and the absolute best that global tourism has to offer.

Ubud, in particular, is unique because it is an archaeological zone where the roots of culture are very deep. Whether it be traditional music, traditional dance, ceremonies and painting, all making Ubud known as the art centre of Bali. Known as a ‘hippie town’ for some people because of its yoga activity and healthy food, however, many travellers coming to Ubud to enjoy its natural attractions; waterfalls, tons of greenery spots and endless rice fields.

Also well known as a flourishing crafts centre, here you can expect to find hundreds of shops selling high-quality antiques, woodcarvings, crafts, textiles, paintings and jewellery. Seamlessly lined along the main street are dozens of art studios, an excellent local craft market and galleries. The Ubud Royal Palace, The Sacred Monkey Forest and the famous Ubud Art Market are a ‘must’ list on every tourist’s itinerary. Although tourism in Ubud has been very progressive in the last few years, there is still a certain serenity and joy to be found in the fresh air. The town has become a popular and peaceful retreat from the nearby areas famous for partying. With everything from sumptuous vegan eats, cleanses, to every type of yoga and healing imaginable, this is where Western spirituality and Balinese traditions live in harmony. That being said, for those coming for relaxation and/or rejuvenation, Ubud may very well be the most enchanted holiday of your life.

Where to Stay

Ubud is according to many people the best area to stay in Bali. Here your stay can largely influence your journey because various resorts, villas, hotels, and bungalows offer so much peace, luxury, services, and beauty. The accommodations in Ubud are diverse but almost all of them are beautiful. Often the traditional style is used in interior and design and is one with the surrounding green nature. From garden bungalows to more modern hotels, your stay in Ubud is if you take the time for it and consider in advance where your preferences are, anyway pleasant and beautiful.

Charm for Honeymooners

When you are on your honeymoon, choosing the apt resort becomes inevitable. After all, your stay in Bali will be governed by the choice of amenities you have around you and, no doubt, the most beautiful rooms you stay with your loved one.

Adiwana Bisma is an upscale, lush property with authentic Balinese charm and rice paddy views, which make it one of the popular choices made by honeymooners. With rooms exuberating luxury and elegance, Adiwana Bisma is a sanctuary of peacefulness and sophistication in the culturally exciting village of Ubud by combining the artistic Balinese elements with their tasteful contemporary style.

Everything is functional and beautifully designed. Mix this with the view of lush green forest that frame Ubud, this elegant resort – with a distinct sense of belonging – caters to all the needs of a couple who want their honeymoon to roll out not less than a fairy-tale.

The rooms provide a soothing environment to chill out after a hectic day of sightseeing in Ubud. The rooms consist of three separate areas: the bedroom, bathroom and balcony. Each area is designed beautifully and combines Balinese design elements with contemporary style. They house a cosy base featuring clean-lined furnishings, a smart en-suite bathroom and an ornamental wall that showcases Bali’s creative heritage. A private terrace or balcony fuses impeccably into the outdoors providing extra space to sit and relax.

After a day of intensive Ubud exploration, the Pistachio Restaurant, with its island-inspired design, is the perfect spot to unwind and relax with your partner. This facility is the social hub of the resort, famous for serving refreshments with a tropical twist from a wide range of succulent eateries and refreshing beverages. Satiate your thirst with an energy-boosting juice or indulge in your favourite cocktail, beer or spirit mix.

As for the activities for couples, you can start your day with an early morning jog across the monkey forest or yoga at their sky pavilion. Alternatively, sign up for the dance class, hop around from one shop to another in the local market, go on a culinary quest or an elephant safari. Whichever you finally decide, you can easily browse through the resort’s book and choose which activities you like.

Unique Family Treats

For parents, planning a vacation with the kids can sometimes be a stressful ordeal. Pairing kid-friendly perks with luxurious amenities for adults to unwind isn’t easy. However, Adiwana Suweta provides fun-filled activities that will please both adults and children.

Adiwana Suweta is hiding in plain sight where natural beauty meets Ubud enchanting culture. For a unique family getaway, this is a wonderful hideaway that boasts rice fields as its centrepiece, placing guests truly at one with nature. The resort faces a lush green jungle and overlooks towering tropical trees, creating clean, fresh air for your kids.

The rooms provide a laidback feel to unwind after a busy day spent exploring the sights of Ubud. It is a cosy base featuring clean-lined furnishings, a smart en-suite bathroom and a decorative wall that showcases Bali’s creative legacy. This room is filled with natural sunlight and has a balcony that blends seamlessly into the outdoors providing extra space to sit and relax.

Adiwana Suweta offers the opportunity to improve your family well-being in an exclusive and motivating atmosphere. Take some time off to lounge in by the pool or swim at the infinity pool, both of them offering their own photography signatures and unique angles. Swimming through this tropical oasis of tranquillity makes it difficult for many to translate the pool in the end. Fortunately, there is the opportunity to further relax at the Tejas Spa in a combination of well-trained therapists and pure essential oils with exotic and traditional Indonesian scents.

Kids’ Activities

Canang Sari Making is one of the daily offerings that can easily be seen in the Balinese temples, on the small shrine in the houses and on the ground as a symbol of thankfulness to a specific Hindu deity. The process of making these mini hampers represents the self-sacrifice of the Balinese people to their Gods.

It takes an extraordinary amount of time and effort, along with love and devotion, to prepare this craft. Canang Sari is normally filled with betel nut leaves, sugar cane, sliced banana, rice, sweet-smelling Pandan leaves, lime and mounds of vibrant flower petals. Adiwana Suweta invites your loved ones to connect to the heart of Balinese spirituality by learning how to create a traditional offering for ceremonies.

Learning Rindik can also be an alternative for your kids. Made from bamboo structure, this easy-to-play traditional instrument was originally made to entertain farmers at the fields. They played it to keep their rice fields from the birds. As the creativity developed by the Hindu community in Bali, Rindik was becoming an instrument to company Balinese dance.
