It is always a good idea to get away from hurry habits, traffic jam or street life, and get lost somewhere to listen to your heartbeat. There are heaps of peaceful places to stay in Bali. In fact, it’s easy to get overwhelmed by the sheer number of options available when it comes to all things luxury, culture, and relaxation offered throughout the island – for the sake of looking for a quiet vacation time.
There are accommodations around Bali that are hidden in a secret spot, which can only be found by locals or adventurous travellers. These properties are unique in their own way, sometimes in the way the property is built, other times in the certain aspects they have or a commitment they make.
We have found a few gems hidden away from the gaze of the mobs that we believe the true beauty of Bali lies in these accommodations (in alphabetical order).

Bali Silent Retreat
At the crossroads of all of the island’s most stunning nature–rice terraces, natural hot springs, and a sacred volcano–Bali Silent Retreat awaits. This spot is home to a unique experience that allows guests to embark on a journey of self-exploration with only one rule, to embrace “the art of doing nothing.” It doesn’t have all the frills of a five-star resort, but the wooden bungalows are breezy during the day and super cosy at night, with open-air bathrooms, mountain views, and of course a no Internet and no TV policy that makes relaxation a priority.
Except for in a few designated spaces, talking is discouraged throughout Bali Silent Retreat. But there are plenty of other ways to occupy your time. Check the calendar in advance to see daily schedules for yoga and meditation classes, hot springs visits, and healing ceremonies, or just spend time strolling through the property’s library, labyrinth, or jungle path. The organic, vegetarian buffet is open three times a day for all the plant-based goodness you can eat.
Bloomfield Bali
Nestled amongst the sprawling rice terraces of Umalas, Bloomfield Bali is a holistic boutique hideaway where guests can relax and recharge with great service, delicious, healthy food and fabulous cocktails. The beautifully designed and landscaped gardens spread from the entrance and spill out to the hotel’s two pools, overlooking the rice terraces and distant, looming volcanoes. The eco-friendly design features beautifully handcrafted bamboo structures with lounge, living and dining spaces that flow from indoor to outdoor. The rooms are airy and spacious, and there is a yoga pavilion, a day spa, two pools and a bale (open-air hut) in the rice fields, perfect for meditation, yoga or a sunset cocktail.
HOSHINOYA Bali
Located on Ubud’s Eastern side, this property is surrounded by forest and the sacred Balinese mythology waters, Pakerisan River, flowing through the valley. There are several settlements in the surrounding area and HOSHINOYA Bali design blends harmoniously into the landscape, reflecting the traditional Balinese culture that meets Japanese aesthetics of space. Resort iconic facilities include Café Gazebo that floats in the valley, the 70-meter river-like pool accessible from all villas, a dining area overlooking the valley, a spa that overlooks the lush green trees, and a villa featuring traditional Balinese crafts.
Lakeview Hotel & Restaurant
Away from the hustle and bustle of the city, this property greatly blends into the cultural area of Kintamani. Lakeview is the original family hotel & restaurant in the Kintamani area, founded as a home stay of teak and fern-tree huts by Mangku Dharta in 1964. Offering 20 rooms and 2 Restaurants, you can escape and revitalise yourself in a private tropical paradise while embracing the spectacular views of mountain and lake.
The rooms are simple in design, with walls and wood-carved Balinese decorations. The architecture does not intrude, but rather inserts itself stoically in the midst of lolling branches. It is a haven for honeymooners and couples—sheltered, intimate, somehow extravagant and cosy all at once. Every aspect of the design feels deeply considered. There are plenty of places to linger and add the intimacy of couples while admiring the nature before your eyes.
Mandala Uluwatu
This mindblowing 5,000 square foot luxury villa is newly finished and in arguably the best location on the island. Situated on the rocks of Uluwatu between two of Bali’s most iconic surf spots Padang Padang and Bingin, with its turquoise shutters, panoramic view and swim-out access to Impossibles break, The Rocks is truly the ultimate beach house. Each of the six bedrooms features a pastel-hued ensuite bathroom and private terrace overlooking the white sand and azure waters, while the open-plan entertaining space includes a private bar and ocean deck. Work out in the outdoor jungle gym, sip on a margarita with unrivalled views of the famous sunset and fall asleep to the sound of the waves, you won’t want to leave.
Important note: access to the villa is an experience and is not suitable for unfit people, as you have to climb numerous stairs to and from the beach, therefore it is not recommended for senior people or young children.

Vision Villa Resort
Each structure is seamless that feels deliberate but dainty, masculine and feminine, East and West. Every inch of the property has been carefully crafted. The main lobby design with dim lights, relaxing sofas in the open garden decorated with beautiful twinkling lights, and a clean and leafy outdoor swimming pool. Each location has its own characteristics with a very strong Balinese sense, but still modern, elegant and classy.
