Bali is known for its beautiful waterfalls. Normally you go to a waterfall to enjoy the beautiful surroundings, take pictures, and perhaps to take a refreshing dip in the clear cooling water. Visiting this waterfall is different.
In the north of the island in the village of Sabangan, east of Pemuteran, you will find the Aling Aling waterfalls. Yes, waterfalls. There are several. In a gorge, you will find here several waterfalls that are not only an attraction to see but also an attraction to get in. This attraction is an exceptionally natural thrill-seeker on the island. Here you can slide down a twelve-meter high waterfall or jump from high altitude into one of the pools.
The ride to these waterfalls is already impressive. The various waterfalls here are called the “Secret Garden”, where a total of 7 different waterfalls are located one after the other. The surrounding area consists of rice fields, greenery, cliffs, and farms. When visiting, it is wise to prepare for a tiring climb along many cliffs of about 400 meters to reach the Aling Aling waterfall. On arrival, you realise that this climb will be deserving because when you arrive you will be warmly welcomed with a stunning view of the Aling Aling waterfall and its unique split.
What makes the Aling Aling waterfall unique is the split. When the water is still flowing it splits from one stream to two streams, creating two waterfalls. These two nearby waterfalls have a difference in speed and strength, resulting in an extremely racket when the water hits the water in the underlying waterfall bowl. This noise resembles rather an enchanting composition in the surrounding peace and beautiful scenery. In addition to the fact that these special waterfalls are a perfect photo opportunity for tourists, it is also the perfect spot for photographers to take unique photos of this special natural appearance.
People without fear of heights can jump from different heights of the different waterfalls here. The range consists of a height of seven, ten, or sixteen meters. Visitors who dare not to jump can slide down a natural slide of twelve meters high. This experience is fun, but not as adrenaline-fuelled as jumping into the deep. In the waterfall bowl at the foot of the waterfall, it is possible to shower in natural water surrounded by an idyllic environment.
You can visit the various waterfalls in Secret Garden during a hike. Depending on how much time you have, you can choose between a short 2 hours, a medium 4 hours, or a long hike of 6 hours. Only the long hike allows you to visit all the waterfalls, encountering several plantations and a wide variety of greenery, rice fields, and farms along the way. Advice is to jump under the guidance of a guide from the different waterfalls because they have more experience in this. This way you can be certain that nothing goes wrong and it will be a safe but still thrilling experience.
