For a day of ultimate relaxation and escaping the busy cities of Bali, you should visit Amed. This part of the island doesn’t get as crowded as other tourist hubs in Bali. The best time to visit Amed is in the dry season, from April to late September. You get the best experience if you stay outside the high season in Bali, from July to august.

The best way to get around in Amad is by scooter. If you are not comfortable riding a scooter, hire a driver for the day. Another sporty mode of transport can be walking or cycling, but in this way, you are limited with your exploration of Amed town.

Your day in Amed will start early with visiting some historical landmarks and beautiful viewpoints. The best place to stop by with the sunrise is Bukit Cinta.

The perfect morning starts at Bukit Cinta, where you have the best view of Mount Agung. With the sunrise, this place becomes even more magical and is a hidden gem you do not want to miss out on. Another benefit of going early to this viewpoint is that it is less crowdy early in the morning, and in this way, you get the most out of the experience.

After the sunrise at Bukit Cinta, you follow your journey to Lempuyang Temple, just 30 minutes away from Amed. This Hindu temple is famous for “the Bali getaway to heaven”, although you have seven different sanctuaries.

“The Bali getaway to heaven” is where you can get the best-framed picture of mount Agung. It is also one of the most famous Instagram places in Bali. There is a significant change you see this temple through social media. The tip is to go there before 8 am for the most peaceful experience. If you go after 8 am, you can expect hundreds of visitors queuing for the perfect picture.

The historical landmark you should visit is Tirta Ganga. This site has been transformed into a generous garden with typical Balinese flora and fauna. It is only located 30 minutes outside Amed. The best time to visit Tirta Ganga is in the morning to avoid big crowds. A visit to Tirta Ganga is good to combine with the other two viewpoints above because they all are nearby each other and are relatively short visits.

After the cultural activities, Amed is famous for its beautiful waters, and one of the primary things, why tourists consider travelling to Amed is scuba diving. It is even the number one thing to do in Amed. The underwater world is stunning, and you can do three types of diving: reef diving, much diving and wreck diving. It does not matter if you are an experienced diver or have never been diving. Amed is also a popular place to get your PADI certification. You can arrange diving trips through numerous diving companies, and your stay is more willing to help to get in contact with them.

Whether you don’t want or physically can’t dive, snorkelling is an excellent alternative to experience the beautiful underwater world of Amed. When you want to go snorkelling, you should keep an eye on the tide. You have the best chances of calm and clear water when it is low tide. You can also see the underwater statues more clearer. Amed is perfect for snorkelling because several reefs are just meters from the coast.

Jemulak Bay is the most popular snorkelling spot in Amed. The waters are calm, ensuring you have an easy and gentle experience. Also one of the best places to take your kids snorkelling. You can watch the beautiful coral species and a spectacular reef. The underwater temple is also something you do not want to miss out on. If you wish to spot bigger fish, sea turtles, and black tips sharks, you should visit Lipah Beach of Selang Beach. You can rent snorkelling gear in most shops, restaurants and hotels or buy a tour for some guidance.

beach bali

When at the end of the day you want to relax at the beach, black sand beach is the place to go. The black sand beach is unique of its sort. While the beaches in Amed vary significantly from the white beaches in Uluwatu, the volcanic sand and coral-filled beaches have something special. You also have a stunning view of Mount Agung in the back.

After all the activities, I assure you that you must fuel your body correctly. The most delicious seafood is served at one of the many warung and restaurants in town. I can assure you this will not disappoint. And lastly, once you visit Amed, you want to go back because of the laid-back ambience and beautiful nature and escape the big cities.
