Locally known as Kebun Raya Bedugul, Bali Botanic Garden is the largest botanical garden in Indonesia with a wide collection of green, open spaces, landscaped gardens and unique plant collections. More than half a million visitors are travelled here every year. The garden is popular with locals and visitors who prefer the refreshing, cool and mountainous region.

Things to do

Going here offers a relaxing experience under cool temperatures in an amazing natural setting. And by cool we mean really fresh, so take some warm clothes with you. Besides the aspects that you will find in several botanical gardens such as flower beds and a rose garden, you will find amazing open places, wild forest areas, and rainforests as you go deeper into the garden. Furthermore, knowledge can be gained at Bali Botanic Garden about the different traditional uses of tropical plants in Bali. In addition to knowledge about tropical plants, this is the ideal place to spot birds. A mix of Asian and Australasian birds consisting of 100 different species has been recorded in the garden.

Bali Treetop Adventure Park

For a somewhat more active and exciting experience, you can visit the Bali Treetop Adventure Park located in the garden. From a higher altitude, you can explore the mountainous area and the rainforests. Swing like a monkey from tree to tree during one of the 6 circuits across the area. Through nets, bridges, swings, ropes, and winches, you will find the true Tarzan in you as you scramble through the trail. Each circuit is tailored for each age, making it a worthwhile day of fun for all ages. All circuits have a cable runway as one of the parts, where you can “relax” and experience the environment.

Information

Getting here is a 90-minute drive to the north from Denpasar. This makes it a very suitable place to visit for a day trip, staying overnight is also possible as accommodation is available. The Bali Botanic Gardens are located at an altitude of 1250 to 1450 meters above sea level. As a result, the temperature can be cool during the day and drop even more at night. Because the temperatures and weather are unpredictable at this altitude, it is advisable to bring some warm clothing and rain gear in preparation. You can enter the garden by car or on foot, so if the motorcycle is your transport to the garden, you will have to park it in front of the entrance.

After a small detour in obstetrics and biology, Anne found her true passion for communication. She decided to exchange the figures, formulas and molecules for letters, organisations and design where she first was able to express her creativity in theatre and writing. Various committees with functions that are in line with communication, and her position as Public Relations board member at the Groninger Studenten Cabaret Festival, allowed her to already cast a glance on what’s important in communication and writing at young age.
