Bali is at its most beautiful at sunset, and not to forget: the island never sleeps. In the evening, there are special and spectacular activities that you might not initially think about or expect to exist. So would you like to do something else in the evening than grab some food at a famous restaurant or drink a cocktail at a well-visited bar? Then we have a few special activities for you to add to your to-do list!

BBQ at Jimbaran

On Jimbaran beach, you can enjoy freshly barbecued fish straight from the sea with your toes in the sand while enjoying the stars, right on your plate! Here, you can choose the fish yourself and follow them on the charcoal barbecues. The smell of smoke from the barbecue can be smelled from far. This scent will infiltrate your clothes after a pleasant evening, so it is important not to put on your most elegant dress or suit.

Kecak Dance at Uluwatu Temple

This fire dance takes place in a unique location: at a clifftop amphitheatre next to the famous Uluwatu temple. From the higher rows of seats, you can behold an iconic fire performance. It is said that Uluwatu has one of the most beautiful sunsets, so this open-air show starts during this impressive spectacle. During the dance, they will anticipate the impressive sky and it provides an extra dramatic effect. Singing in elaborate costumes, 75 male dancers will convey a story with scenes of romance and suspense.

Bonfire at Karma Beach

A beach bonfire in a fire ring is a time-honoured tradition for residents and visitors to enjoy. Bonfire rings create instant gathering places for entertainment and sharing, which is why they are such a popular activity. When you are around Jimbaran or Uluwatu area, head over to Karma Beach in Ungasan for a special Sunset Beach Bonfire that’s not to be missed! Picture this; chill in a beanbag around the fire, toast marshmallows and make your own s’mores while gazing out at the breathtaking sunset view with a glass of cocktail or wine on your hand. Is there a better way to end the day? CLICK HERE FOR MORE INFO!

Dinner with Lions

Dining under candlelight in a jungle with wild animals? It’s possible! Before this dinner at Bali Zoo, you will be welcomed by various wild animals. Beforehand, you get to see various wild animals up close and you can even feed them, pet them or take some pictures or selfies with them. After this, the lions will look down on you from their rock while you enjoy your delicious elaborate supper. In addition to lions, other wild animals, belly dancers, and fire eaters will gather around you. You get the real-life feeling of being a Lion King character here! CLICK HERE FOR MORE INFO!

Spa Experience at W Bali Seminyak

There will be a time where you just need to sleep due to the tight schedule tomorrow. An hour of pampering hour might help then. Knowing that a spa experience should not be a daily experience, AWAY Spa at W Bali Seminyak is open 24 hours to give you the indulgence for body and mind whenever you need it. CLICK HERE FOR MORE INFO!

Local Food Hunting

Traditional Markets Bali

While most of the restaurant on the island informs you that the last order is at 10:30PM (an annoying moment when you are still enjoying your time), some places open till late, or even just starting serving in the evening. Those who prefer going out exploring the town, Babi Guling Ibu Dayu and Nasi Pedas Ibu Andhika can be the options for Balinese food. (Note: Babi Guling Ibu Dayu only opens in the evening until dawn). Or, grab a bowl of Hongkong Porridge at Warung Laota. These food joints are located close next to each other in Raya Kuta Mainstreet in Tuban area.

Beach walk Beneath the Stars

In the middle of the night, many stars illuminate the clear sky above the beach. Stroll through the sand and enjoy what mother nature has to offer. Halfway through the walk, take the time to lie down, count the stars, and take in the universe. No conversation is necessary for this either. The experience makes you silent. Who knows, you might spot a shooting star this evening.

Night-swim in an Infinity Pool

Infinity pools are hot and happening. Bali offers the most amazing infinity pools with the most magnificent views. Stay in accommodation with an infinity pool and enjoy the view at night during a night dip in the pool. A refreshing view of the ocean or the mountains is a completely different experience at night than during the day, it is something you want to see!

Nighttime Boat Trip

Take a boat out to sea. It is exciting, feels like stepping into a new adventure and it is very special to be able to spend the night at sea. Let yourself be carried away under the movement of the waves towards the horizon and enjoy the astronomic sky above you from the deck.

Breakfast in Bali: Morning Bites to Change Your Day

After a small detour in obstetrics and biology, Anne found her true passion for communication. She decided to exchange the figures, formulas and molecules for letters, organisations and design where she first was able to express her creativity in theatre and writing. Various committees with functions that are in line with communication, and her position as Public Relations board member at the Groninger Studenten Cabaret Festival, allowed her to already cast a glance on what’s important in communication and writing at young age.
