Welcoming the start of 2023, Lintasarta, an Information and Communication Technology (ICT) total solutions company, made donation to conserve thousands of sea turtles in Bali on Thursday, 26 January 2023 as one of Lintasarta’s CSR activities at the Pillar of “Cinta Bumi”. Lintasarta partners with the Turtle Education and Conservation Center (TCEC) Bali in providing various operational needs for the maintenance of hatchlings (turtle chicks) that are hatched at TCEC before being released into the wild.
“We are committed to taking consistent action in protecting the environment, including playing an active role in creating a more balanced marine protected area with the support of various environmental activist partners. Our effort is in line with the Indonesian Government’s mission to achieve the target of expanding marine protected areas to reach 30 percent of the total sea area,” said Arya Damar, President Director Lintasarta.
This turtle conservation effort was carried out with TCEC as one of the leading communities in Indonesia which has focused on hatchling and turtle breeding since 2006. TCEC has also become one of the visiting destinations for the 2022 G20 delegations. Annually, TCEC takes care of more than 11,000 hatchlings with a success rate of more than 83%, starting from the time the hatchlings were treated until they were successfully released into the sea.
“We carry out the care and maintenance of sea turtles to support the achievement of one of the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) targets, namely to conserve and utilize sea, ocean and maritime resources in a sustainable manner. We see a positive trend that there will be more turtles that can be cared for in 2023 in order to maintain the balance of Indonesia’s marine ecosystem,” said Triharry Darmawan Oetji, Corporate Secretary General Manager of Lintasarta.
This support for turtle conservation efforts was carried out symbolically through releasing hatchlings by the board of directors and management of Lintasarta at Melasti Beach Bali and symbolically handing over a number of donations to the main manager of TCEC, I Made Sukanta. This activity is expected to contribute to the preservation of marine ecosystems in Indonesia.
