The Avocado Factory x Tale of Two: Launch Avocado Dyed Collection Using Food Waste

In a creative step toward sustainability, The Avocado Factory has partnered with Tale of Two to introduce the Avocado Dyed Collection, a limited merchandise collaboration that transforms avocado pits from the kitchen into natural textile dye.

The project represents the collaboration between the two Bali-based brands and highlights a shared commitment to sustainability, creativity, and circular design. By repurposing avocado pits that would normally be discarded, the collaboration turns food waste into wearable pieces, demonstrating how small ideas can inspire meaningful change.

Avocados are at the heart of many dishes served daily at The Avocado Factory. While the fruit itself is enjoyed by guests, the pits usually end up as kitchen waste. The idea behind the collaboration began with a simple question: could these leftover avocado pits be used in a more meaningful way?

The answer is yes it could, and it comes through the natural dyeing process. When boiled and prepared correctly, avocado pits release a soft pigment that produces warm, earthy tones. These subtle colors are created without synthetic chemicals, making the process both environmentally friendly and visually unique.

By collecting and processing avocado pits from the restaurant’s kitchen, the collaboration turns an everyday byproduct into the defining element of a limited clothing and merchandise collection.

The partnership between The Avocado Factory and Tale of Two emerged from a shared interest in sustainability and storytelling through design.

Tale of Two is known for creating thoughtful merchandise and lifestyle pieces that combine contemporary aesthetics with meaningful narratives. Together, the two brands set out to create a collection that would highlight both creativity and responsible production.

The result is a series of limited-edition items using avocado pits dye.

Bali has become a hub for sustainable lifestyle initiatives, from zero-waste restaurants to eco-conscious fashion brands. The Avocado Dyed Collection fits naturally into this growing movement, reflecting the island’s commitment to innovation and environmental responsibility.

By exploring natural dyes derived from food waste, the project highlights a simple but powerful concept that sustainability sometimes begins with what we throw. In this case, the avocado pits that once left the kitchen as waste now become the pigment that gives life to a limited collection.

This limitation reinforces the intention behind the project: to create meaningful pieces rather than mass-produced merchandise. Each item in the Avocado Dyed Collection carries a story of transformation from kitchen ingredient to pigment, from waste to wearable design.

For customers and supporters of both brands, the collection offers more than clothing or merchandise. It represents a creative reminder that sustainability can be both practical and inspiring.

As interest in eco-conscious products continues to grow, collaborations such as the Avocado Dyed Collection show that responsible design can also be visually compelling and culturally meaningful.

At its core, the Avocado Dyed Collection began with a simple observation: avocado pits are often thrown away. By transforming those pits into natural dye, The Avocado Factory and Tale of Two demonstrate how rethinking everyday materials can lead to innovative and inspiring results.

The Avocado Dyed Collection is available in limited quantities, encouraging customers to experience a unique blend of sustainability, creativity, and design.
